3. PRAYER

"… the Spirit helps us in our weakness:
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.
And God, who searches the heart,
knows what is in the mind of the Spirit,
because the Spirit intercedes for the saints
according to the will of God."
Rom 8:26-27

In one of his talks, our Founder, Pierre Bienvenu Noailles, speaks of prayer as a cry of distress to God.

"As the body breathes in the air
necessary for its physical life,
so prayer is the breath of the soul
and therefore a continual need."

Jesus exhorted his followers to pray saying, "Whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give it to you." It requires no skill: we simply ask as a poor person would ask for bread. Keep asking, the answer is sure to come.

Listen, Lord, to the voice of your people,
and grant them what they need.
