Lay Associates AGM Ireland

| November 12th, 2012

On 13 October Holy Family Lay Associates in Ireland met in the Emmaus Conference Centre, Swords, for their Annual General Assembly.

The main topic on the agenda was the report by Irish president, Rose Sullivan, on the recent Holy Family International Congress held in Martillac, France, in September this year. Rose, who was the lay associate delegate for Ireland, gave a comprehensive overview of this second phase of the Congress. The theme, Family on Mission in a Changing World, had already been the subject of reflection by the five Holy Family vocations during the preceding year in what was called the first phase. The results of all this preparatory work provided rich food for thought during the international meeting.

The Congress will continue until September 2013 with the third phase which is a time of entering deeply into, owning and seeing how to act upon the insights of the first two phases. The feedback at the AGM was the starting point.

There was joy during the Eucharistic celebration as two new Associates, Maureen Lawlor and Anna McDonald of the Moneenroe Lay Associates group, made their commitment as members. There was great applause in the afternoon session when Alice Ivers (Sonas Chriost, Newbridge  group) was presented with an award in honour of her 25 years commitment as a Holy Family Associate. A presentation was made, and enthusiastic appreciation given, to Sr Rose Devlin whose term as the Apostolic Religious representative on the Lay Associates National Committe has come to an end.
