"Whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me"

Luke wishes to show that the proclamation of God’s Kingdom involves a call to repentance. Those who hear the call and repent listen to the Disciples and to Jesus. Those who listen to Jesus welcome the Father who sent Him. For the Jews however, Jesus’ message calling them to a change of heart is unacceptable. They think that as God’s chosen people they deserve the wonders that God works for them, including those done by Jesus. Besides they observe the law of Moses and they believe this is enough. Jesus is annoyed at their spiritual pride and warns them of severe judgement.
Prayer
Lord, inspire us to let our light shine out, knowing that Jesus said that we are the light of the world. Amen.
