"A feeling of expectancy had grown among the people who were beginning to think that John may be the Christ.''

John,the Baptist had begun preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Crowds followed him and listened eagerly to his every word. People asked many questions which he answered. That made them think he could be the Christ; but John had a clear vision of the difference between Christ and himself. True to his vocation of precursor, John stated his credentials. He was not the Christ but Christ’s coming was near at hand.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me a deep faith in Christ your Son. Keep me alert to what my vocation entails and keep me on the straight and narrow as I prepare for the coming of your Son, Jesus. May this time of Advent be a preparation. Amen
