Prayer of the Day

""Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest.""
Matthew 11 : 28

Advent is meant to be a season when we spend time in prayer and reflection preparing for the coming of the Lord but very often it is the opposite. We are distracted with endless Christmas shopping and social events. It is in the midst of this hustle and bustle that Jesus issues an invitation to come and rest with him. Such times of rest in the company of Jesus are crucial to our well-being. Silent time spent before the Blessed Sacrament or in our prayer space frees us from false illusions and reminds us that we are truly loved by God. It detaches us from the false glitter of the commercial world.
