Prayer of the Day
6
January 21st, 2015The Book of Exodus says this; “You must keep the Sabbath as something sacred. Whoever desecrates it shall be put to death.” Since no exception has been mentioned, healing, just like any type of work is unlawful on the day of rest. For the Pharisees therefore, Jesus’ action is a grave violation of the ritual law. Jesus immediately questions it, He confounds His critics, but does not convert them. The Pharisees are prepared to deny a fundamental principle, that one should try to save rather than destroy life. But Jesus shows that God does not expect legalistic worship when real service of ones’ human being is called for. So, speak and act as people who will be judged by the law of freedom. For the judgement is merciless to one who has not shown mercy. Jesus said before His Ascension; “I am with you always until the end of time.” If we truly believe this we will never be crushed by sorrow or loneliness.
