Ash Wednesday

March 1st, 2017

Lord, I thank you for sending us Jesus to show us the way home to you.  I thank you for my being, made in your image and likeness.  Give me the grace to stand before the mystery of my own life,  to discover what it means to be your child.  Amen

Today marks the start of Lent, a sense that the time to repent and turn back is now.  The Gospel tells us how to approach that renewal of our lives.  It puts before us the remedy in prayer,  fasting and almsgiving.  These three strands of Lenten observance are as ancient as Christianity itself.
