Daily Prayer

Jesus came on earth to make it possible for each one of us to enter eternal life.  He is the gate through which we pass, the goal of our journey.  The gate is open for us but we must choose to walk through.  Jesus warns us, however, that it is not easy to pass through the gate.  It requires a long hard discipleship, an inner journey of transformation.  Perfect transformation into Jesus does not take place at once.  We need to allow Jesus to work with us through all the circumstances of our lives in order to bring about this change.  To pass through the gate we must be small and unencumbered.  We have to become like little children dependent on and totally surrendered to God.  Eternal life is a gift from God that cannot be earned but at the same time we must strive for it.
