Prayer of the Day
Daily Prayer
September 18th, 2015
At this stage of his journey Jesus had chosen the twelve apostles to accompany him through the towns and villages but Luke tells us that they were also accompanied by women. These women had been healed of various sicknesses and diseases and in gratitude they took it upon themselves to take care of and provide for Jesus and his apostles. Through Jesus these women had learned that real friendship with God was possible. Mary probably accompanied them also even though she is not mentioned here by Luke. Walking with Jesus meant accepting the growing hatred and rejection of the scribes and Pharisees. In our world walking with Jesus can also bring hatred and rejection but friendship with Jesus makes everything worthwhile.
Loving Lord you brought healing to all who asked it of you. We ask you now to heal us of our brokenness so that we may have the courage and perseverance to walk with you always. Amen
