"If someone wants to be first, let them be last of all, and servant of all. "
Mark 9 : 37
In this sequence Jesus reminds his disciples of the importance of service —“whoever wants to be the first…….” This is all contrary to the natural inclination of leadership to lord it over everyone else. To be “Christlike” is to become a servant to all –to put others before oneself. This is the true test of stewardship and leadership. Welcoming others too, is to be a sign, of the presence of Christ’s Kingdom on earth.
Prayer
Lord teach us true humility, to be servants of each other and to be welcomers to all. Lord hear us. Amen
