Luke 14 : 27
Jesus asks one to renounce not only one’s possessions, but one’s family and one’s very life. Great is the price, one must be ready to be considered to be an authentic follower of Christ. For sure each one has a particular charism. One can be a disciple of the Lord even without leaving one’s family. One can still be a disciple without actually undergoing martyrdom. But there must be that basic willingness to leave all in order to serve all, confident in the knowledge that Christ cannot be surpassed in generosity. Life is God’s precious gift which we should neither waste nor seek to destroy. Are you happy to be a Christian? Do you bring joy to those whose life you touch?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gifts you give us each day. Give us the faith to turn to you first, each time we need help. Lord hear us. Amen
