Prayer of the Day

Daily Prayer

""Yahweh's tenderness embraces all his creatures."" Psalm 145 v.7

About 2.6 million years ago God first reached out to us in the creation.  As Genesis tells us; “God saw it was good.”  His next approach to us was in the Incarnation.  The world we live in is God’s,  given to us out of love.  Hence,  the ground we stand on is holy as God told Moses on Sinai.  St. John Paul II tells us;  “The human person is capable of making visible what is invisible i.e the spiritual,  the Divine,  the very person of God.”   Our divine-human bodies are Temples of the Holy Spirit.  The seeds of our true image were sown in creation and consecrated in the Incarnation and made available to us forever in the Eucharist.   Our Christian life began in the Incarnation which we celebrate every Christmas.   So,  our journey through life enables us to grow into the very image and likeness of God – the God who loves us with an everlasting love – a love that embraces all of us – the saint and the sinner.  All of us are precious in God’s eyes.  God is forever calling us out of our darkness into his wonderful light.  “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”  How do we respond to his call.  Perhaps we don’t want to move into the Light!  Prayer is the breath of our life.  It unites us with God,  keeps us in touch with the Divine Spirit who dwells in our hearts.  Shakespeare says in Hamlet; “There’s a Divinity that shapes our ends,  rough hew them how we will.”  “The human heart has a hunger for God,  which only God can satisfy.”

Prayer Let us pray in the words of Blessed Henry Newman; "Flood my soul with your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess my whole being so that my life may only be a radiance of yours." Amen
