Here Jesus is warning his disciples against the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees, who as teachers of the Law, are revered by the people. Jesus says unfortunately they do not practise what they preach. We can get so bogged down watching what others do and do not do, that we do not have time to see into our own hearts.
Prayer
Jesus, keep me faithful to you and your teaching, Keep the eyes of my soul focused on you and when I am stubborn bend my will to accomplish your will at all times. In imitation of you make my heart like unto thine. Amen
