Here Jesus is on his last journey to Jerusalem. He announces what is going to happen to him there but his disciples are not giving him their full attention. Even James and John get their mother to tell Jesus of their ambition. Even when Jesus tells them they do not know what they are asking for it fails to sink in. No jobs for the boys is not the answer they were expecting.
Prayer
Jesus, help us realise that following you is a vocation of service not self aggrandisement. Jesus, the perfect Servant teach us to follow your example and be ever ready to be at your service wherever we find ourselves in life. Be with us as we go on our way of service. Amen
