""Does a mother forget her baby at the breast, or fail to cherish the son of her womb? Yet even if these forget I will never forget you."" Isaiah 49 : 15

The Bible is God’s love letter to us.   Through the prophets God expresses God’s maternal and paternal love for us.  In today’s first reading Isaiah uses the image of the nurturing love that a mother has for her baby to describe God’s love for each one of us.  Jesus, who is the image of the unseen God, assures us of God’s fatherly care for us and for all creation – the birds of the air and the flowers of the field (Matt 6:24-34).  The only thing we are asked to do is to put God at the centre of our lives.  We are not to be distracted by useless worries because Jesus assures us that our heavenly Father will take care of everything.  “If there is anything you need pray for it, asking God for it with prayer and thanksgiving” (Phil. 4:6-9)  In his own life Jesus put this kind of trust in his Abba and he was not disappointed.  The evil of the Cross became the glory of the Resurrection.

Prayer Loving Lord in the midst of worry and distress send us peace of heart and a strengthened hope in your promised kingdom. Amen
