Prayer of the Day

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes – World Day of Prayer for the Sick

February 11th, 2015
""Do you not understand either?"" Mark 7 : 18

Jesus called his disciples to him and said,’’ Listen to me, all of you and understand. Nothing that goes into a man from outside can make him unclean; it is the things that come out of a man that makes him unclean. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen to this.’’ When he had gone back into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable.  He said to them, ‘’ Do you not understand either? Can you not see whatever goes into a man from the outside cannot make him unclean? Because it does not go into the heart but through the stomach and passes through the sewer. (Thus he pronounced all foods clean.) And he went on, ‘’ It is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean. For it is from within, from men’s hearts that evil intentions emerge : fornication, theft , murder adultery, avarice, malice, deceit , indecency, envy, slander, pride, folly,  All these evil things come from within and make a man unclean.” (Mark 7 : 14 – 23)

The first part of this, the entering of food does not make a person evil. The second part is what comes out of a person that makes a person evil. Those actions, featuring the list above makes a person evil. St. Paul’s  writings, also the Acts,  have listed the same kind of evil actions.

Feast of Lady of Lourdes, the world is waiting for her healing touch.  St John Paul 11 1992 instituted the World Day of the Sick to be held on the commemoration of Our Lady of Lourdes.  We ask Mary, our Mother for her protection to keep us safe from all evil.

Prayer God our Father, our prayer is to stay close to Jesus.
