Prayer of the Day

Feast of Ss. Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs

June 4th, 2015
""O Blessed are those who fear the Lord."" Antiphon
Flower-310x232

Today’s Reading from the Book of Tobit (6 : 10-11) continues  about Tobit’s son Tobias going off to find a bride, guided by the angel Raphael.  In Raguel’s home he accepts Sarah as his bride.  She had seven husbands one after another killed by the demon Asmodeus.  They pray with the best of intentions for God’s protection and their union is blessed.

Psalm; “O Blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways.  Blessed too,  is your name for ever and ever.  And all things that you made for evermore.”

“One of the scribes came up to Jesus and put a question to him; “Which is the first of all the Commandments?”  Jesus’ answer is clear for all believers; “Listen Israel the Lord our God is the one Lord and you must love him with all your heart,  with all your soul, and with all your mind and strength.  The second is this,  you must love your neighbour as yourself.  There is no commandment greater than these.”

Prayer

Father, let your Spirit come upon us with power to fill us with his gifts. May he make our hearts pleasing to you and ready to do your will. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen
