Prayer of the Day

Feast of St. Bartholomew

August 24th, 2017

“And He said to him; ‘Very truly,  I tell you,  you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.'” (John 1 : 51)

Today’s reading is about Nathanael meeting Jesus.  Jesus impresses Nathanael so much that he says to Jesus; ‘Rabbi,  you are the Son of God,  you are the King of Israel.’  He remains with Jesus and follows Him.  We should all strive to have faith like Nathanael.

St. Bartholomew is probably to be identified with Nathanael of Cana,  whom Philip brings to the Lord.  He preached the Gospel in India and is patron saint of plasterers,  tanners and leather workers.
