Feast of St. Colman, Bishop

June 7th, 2014
""Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved."" John 21 : 20

John bears witness to Jesus who is not only the obedient Son and the Risen Lord,  but the Incarnate Word,  the one through whom the universe was created.  The mystery of the ‘Word made Flesh’ simply cannot be put into words.  The same may be said about religious experience which are realities about God and His Words,  in the lives of men and women.  Believers may have difficulty in explaining their experience,  but they will forever treasure it in their minds and hearts.  Our Lady,  herself,  keeps the mysteries of her Son’s life and reflects on them in her heart.

The disciple fulfils his commission,  and later asks his successors in pastoral ministry; “Do not lord it over those assigned to you,  but be examples to the flock.”

Prayer Lord, may we imitate St. John in his love and faithfulness, and be a source of the Gospel for those around us. Amen
