Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary

"As Jesus drew near Jerusalem and came in sight of the city he shed tears over it and said; 'If you in your turn had only understood on this day the message of peace.'" Luke 19 : 41

Today is the feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary,  1207 – 1231,  queen at fourteen,  widowed and exiled at twenty.  She became a Franciscan tertiary until her death at twenty four.  She was a woman of prayer and service of the poor.
