""They sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind."" Hosea 8 : 7

First Reading : Today Hosea the prophet voices the displeasure and anger of God on the people who have created images and worship them.  “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.”   The Lord takes no pleasure in these,  he is now going to remember their iniquity and punish their sins.

In today’s Gospel,  “A dumb demoniac is brought to Jesus and he cast the devil out of the man.  When the man spoke the people were amazed; “Nothing like this has ever been seen before in Israel” they said.  The Pharisees said; “It is thro’ the prince of devils he casts out devils.”  Jesus bypassed their religious authority!   Jesus made his way through all the towns and villages,  teaching in their synagogues,  proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases – sickness.  When he saw the crowds,  he felt sorry for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples; “The harvest is great,  but the labourers are few,  so let us ask the Lord of the harvest to send labourers to his harvest.” (Matthew 9 : 32-38)

Prayer Let us pray for forgiveness through the grace of Jesus Christ. Amen
