Prayer of the Day
Feast of St. Lawrence, Deacon & Martyr
August 10th, 2017
“Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will be my servant also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honour.” (John 12 : 26)
Today’s Reading is about Jesus’ own fate. After the Resurrection, Jesus’ life gains a cosmic dimension. When the Holy Spirit was sent, the disciples were given a deeper knowledge of Jesus, who in turn gave witness and inspired to spread the Gospel to everyone, including St. Lawrence, a deacon and martyr of Rome. The Church of the first millennium was born of the blood of martyrs and of the heroic virtues of believers.
