Feast of St. Maelruain, Bishop & Abbot

“Jesus said; ‘I desire mercy,  not sacrifice.  For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.'”  (Matthew 9 : 13)

Jesus extends His invitation to follow him irrespective of where we are,  what we do,  and how we live. A positive response to Jesus’ call will make us happy.

St. Maelruain, founded a monastery at Tallaght Co. Dublin,  in 774 which introduced a reform.  Important liturgical and spiritual writings emerged from this movement known as the Célí Dé reform.  He died in 792.
