Prayer of the Day

Feast of St. Pius V

April 30th, 2016
"If they keep my words they will keep yours as well." John 15 : 20

Jesus everywhere in our modern world we are aware of the persecution of Christians.  Christians,  whether Orthodox or Protestant feel a profound solidarity as disciples of Christ during this time of persecution.  It appears no one is listening to your words or the words of your followers in certain countries.  The fate of Orthodox Bishops and three Priests who were abducted three years ago is still unknown.

Today is the feast of St. Pius V,  1504 – 1572,  who was elected Pope in 1565.  He implemented the reforms of the Council of Trent.  He is noted for his defence of Christendom against the Ottoman Empire.

Lord Jesus, these are your people. Look down on them and give them strength and courage to persevere. Touch our own hearts also to help these people as best we can. Keep them in our mind Lord and give us the courage to speak to politicians of our concern for our persecuted Christians. Let us remember them in our daily prayers. Amen
