Prayer of the Day
Feast of St. Rose of Lima and St. Eugene (Eoghan), Bishop
August 23rd, 2017
“So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” (Matthew 20 : 16)
Today’s parable shows us that God acts as our patron. He deals with us not according to what we truly deserve but according to His gracious mercy.
St. Rose of Lima, 1586 – 1617, Dominican tertiary and recluse, who helped the poor and marginalised. She is seen as the originator of social service in Peru. St. Eugene (Eoghan) lived in the sixth century. He made a foundation at Kilnamanagh in the Wicklow hills, but his principal foundation was at Ardstraw, Co. Tyrone.
