Prayer of the Day
Feast of St. Thomas More, St. John FisherJune 22nd, 2015
Today people are often accused of being judgemental when in fact they are merely expressing an opinion. Yet it is true that anyone who says they haven’t been judgemental is probably lying or in denial. Often judging others makes us feel better about ourselves. In today’s gospel Jesus warns us about this very human tendency. He tells us that the ‘amount we measure out is the amount we will be given.’ This is a kind of frightening statement for most of us and a wake-up call. We need to become more aware of our thoughts and their underlying emotional causes so that we can work on letting them go. Jesus wants us to develop a compassionate attitude and he will help us if we ask him.
