Prayer of the Day
Feast of The Queenship of Mary
August 22nd, 2014
Joseph’s betrothed Mary seems destined to live a normal, hidden life of a wife and mother in Nazareth. With the Angel’s visit, Mary realises that her life will have a deeper significance than what she ever imagined. Mary is called to participate in the fulfilment of God’s liberating bill for his people by being the Mother of the Saviour. Her Son will be called Son of the Most High and His Kingdom will have no end. He will be called Holy, the Son of God. Mary’s identity will henceforth be associated with the person of her Son. The conception will occur not through the normal union of husband and wife, but through the creative action of the Holy Spirit. Mary’s answer; “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your Word.” From now on, Mary’s life is linked with that of every believer, and every disciple of Jesus Christ.
