Prayer of the Day
Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ
August 6th, 2014One day Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain, probably Mount Tabor, and he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and his clothes became as white as light. The Transfiguration is a visible manifestation of God given to three reliable witnesses, Peter, James and John. Alluding to the event Peter wrote: “We have seen his majesty with our own eyes. We ourselves heard the voice from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain” (2 Peter 1:16-18). That voice from heaven said: “This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.” In special moments of prayer God seems very near and it is easy to hear him speak to us. But God speaks to us in every moment of our lives but most of the time we are too busy to hear his voice or we are not quite tuned in to his wavelength. Hearing the voice of the Lord is a combination of divine gift and human response.
