Prayer of the Day

Feasts of The Irish Martyrs, St. Alban, (England) Julius and Aaron, (Wales ).

June 20th, 2015
"“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life” – “But seek ye first his Kingdom."" Matthew 6 : 25

Paul boasts of his weakness in our 1st reading, (2 Cor. 12. 1-10), but is consoled by God’s assuring love, — “My grace is sufficient for you.”  The two readings are linked by the exhortation not to worry.  The questions Jesus poses in the Gospel concern fundamental values; he asks us to sort out our priorities –  to separate our needs from our wants.  He assures us that God knows our needs and will supply them abundantly. Our task is to discover and discern what is right in our lives, and what is not, and what needs re-balancing or fine-tuning to suit God’s plan and purpose for each of us.  As a friend said: “If you are too busy to pray,  then you are just too busy.“

Prayer Let us ask the Lord to give us a greater reliance on Divine Providence so that we free our minds from needless worry and carry out his plans for us and for others. Amen
