Fifth Week of Lent
March 14th, 2016
"For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."
John 8 : 24
For the Evangelist, John, there is only one radical sin, to refuse to believe in Jesus. Since Jesus is life, and the only source of life. To refuse Him is to refuse life itself and in return to die without hope of gaining eternal life. To blaspheme is to be guilty of an everlasting sin. Actually, the sin is the same, refusal to believe in Jesus who conquers satan by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, who is the sole God sent messenger of salvation, bears the Divine Name “I AM.” To reject Jesus is to choose to stay in darkness and confusion. It is the same as rejecting life itself.
Prayer
Almighty God, we are inspired by the faith of our ancestors, who took the Good News of salvation to all the earth. Lord hear us. Amen
