Prayer of the Day

Fourteenth Sunday of the Year

July 3rd, 2016
"The seventy two disciples returned rejoicing and said to Jesus; 'Lord even the demons are subject to us because of your name.'" Luke 10 : 17

Jesus sends the disciples out utterly dependent upon God and others’ hospitality.  If they are not welcomed they are to shake the dust from their feet and announce; ‘the Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’  In other words,  God is in charge,  not us.   They go in pairs,  reminding us that our lives are interdependent on others.  Whoever proclaims the Gospel must be free and be with the poor and suffering.

May we never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
