Prayer of the Day

Fourteenth Sunday of the Year

July 5th, 2015
"Prophets are not without honour, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house." Mark 6 : 4

Nazareth is the most unlikely place of origin for the Messiah.  Tradition has it that He will come from the town of Bethlehem or the city of Jerusalem,  both of which are identified with the royal house of David.  What is more,  Jesus is only a mere carpenter.  He,  His Mother,  and His kinsfolk are well known by the Nazarenes.  They presume that they know Him too well for Him to claim to be a wise rabbi and an excellent miracle worker.  The prejudice of the Nazarenes has blocked their hearts in accepting the real Jesus.

We pray for all those troubled by long time struggles. May the Holy Spirit inspire them to continue praying and grant them to find peace. Amen
