Prayer of the Day

May 17th, 2015
""And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into Heaven; there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out preached everywhere."" Mark 16 : 19

Jesus returned to his place of Glory, with his Father. However, he has not really left us. He is still with us in the mission of the Church. St. Paul always speaks of the Church as the body of Christ. We are that body. The apostles were sent out in the Lord’s power to proclaim the Good News to all creation. The Resurrection of Jesus is the Good News and what that means for all of us. We are told the apostles went out and preached everywhere, working many signs and wonders among the people. Those who believed and were baptised received the fruits of the Resurrection. And Jesus continues to-day to work in and through all those who believe in Him: These believers are the Church, the Body of Christ. Our work of evangelisation will continue from generation to generation till the end of time. For it is God’s will that all mankind should come to the knowledge of the Truth. What is the Truth? Pilate asks Jesus. The truth is God loves us with an ever lasting love and wills only our complete happiness in union with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Let us open our minds and hearts to the fullness of life which Jesus is offering us. “I have come that you have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10 : 10

Prayer Let us pray that the Church may walk humbly in the footsteps of the one who washed the feet of his apostles. May we realise that as members of the Church each of us is an apostle with the mandate to spread the Good News of God's love for his people. Bless our efforts, Lord to promote your Kingdom of peace and love. Amen
