Prayer of the Day

Saturday after Ash Wednesday

February 13th, 2016
"Show me Lord, your way, so that I may walk in your truth." Psalm 86 v.11

Today’s Reading (Isaiah 58 : 9) “The Lord says this; ‘If you give your bread to the hungry,  and relief to the oppressed,  if you do away with the yoke,  the clenched fist, the wicked word,  your light will rise in the darkness and you shadows become like noon,  the Lord will guide you always,  giving you relief in desert places.  You will be called ‘breach mender.'”

In the Gospel (Luke 5 : 27) “Jesus noticed a tax collector,  Levi by name,  sitting in the customs house,  and said to him; ‘Follow me.’  And leaving everything he got up and followed him.”

Jesus powerful in the Eucharist today says; “It is mercy I want and not sacrifice.  I did not come to call the virtuous, but sinners.”

Lord receive our sacrifice of praise and reconciliation. Let it free us from sin and enable us to give you loving service today and everyday of Lent. Amen
