Prayer of the Day
Second Sunday of ChristmasJanuary 3rd, 2016
The heart of Jesus, ‘ nearest to the Father’s heart’ is what we think of when we hear the words ‘the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.’ During his earthly life Jesus always lived in communion with the One, he lovingly called ‘Father.’ He came into the world in order to reveal the Father’s love for humanity. People had very strange images of God and Jesus wanted to show them the loving heart of the Father. Jesus came to invite each one of us to become part of the family of God. He was the light but people were too blind to see. He was the Word but people were too deaf to hear. He walked among people but he remained unknown to the majority. He was misunderstood by those who even called themselves disciples. They were incapable of interpreting not only his words but his actions. After his death and resurrection Jesus put a new spirit into his followers so that they could become children of God. Today Jesus lives in our hearts and he longs for God’s love to shine through us so that others may be drawn into the family of God.
Heavenly Father we ask you to fill the world with your glory, and show yourself to all peoples by the radiance of your light. We ask this through Jesus, your Son, our Lord. Amen
