Prayer of the Day

Second Week of Lent

February 25th, 2016
"They would not be convinced even if someone should rise from the dead." Luke: 16 : 31

Luke uses a story of reversal of fortunes to illustrate the need to help the poor and underprivileged while there is still time. It concerns a poor man who is ignored by his rich neighbour. Eventually justice prevails in the after-life; he is rewarded, but the rich one is condemned.   We are not to be discouraged if we see the rich prosper while the poor,  despite all our efforts, struggle in their everyday life.  There is room in God’s kingdom for all.   Jesus’ love and compassion will prevail and  justice will be meted out to all.

Let us pray for a just distribution of the goods of the world, for respect for human life, and that countries and governments will heed the call of the poor and displaced in their great need and suffering. Amen
