Prayer of the Day

Third Sunday of Easter

April 30th, 2017

“When He was at the table with them,  He took bread,  blessed and broke it,  and gave it to them.  Then their eyes were opened,  and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.”  (Luke 24 : 30)

Today’s Gospel story contains a wealth of teaching on the meaning of the Eucharist as a celebration of the presence of the Risen Lord.  Christ takes,  blesses,  breaks and gives the bread to His disciples and is known to them in the action.   It is He who opens their minds and hearts and it is He who walks with them in the cool of the evening.
