Prayer of the Day
Thirty Third Sunday of the Year
November 13th, 2016
Persecution and even death have marked Christianity from the very beginning, so it shouldn’t surprise us that Christians today are still suffering for their faith in many parts of the world. The fact that this is happening in distant lands doesn’t mean that it isn’t our concern. No, these are our brothers and sisters in the faith and it is our duty to help them. But how can we help? Fortunately we have a weapon we can all use on their behalf – it is PRAYER. There is no one who can’t pray. Whether we’re young or old, healthy or sick, we can all offer a prayer every day for the persecuted Church. And we can be sure that our prayer will help someone to remain strong and faithful to the Gospel in spite of persecution.
Lord we bring before you our brothers and sisters who are suffering because they are your followers. We ask you to pour out your Spirit upon them to strengthen them and help them to bear witness to you. Amen
