The Province of Britain & Ireland includes England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
In 1853, the first community of Holy Family Sisters was established
in England, in Leeds. This first foundation was in response to a
need to provide education for a large Irish immigrant population.
From there other houses were established in Britain and in Ireland.
The apostolate of the Sisters also extended to include, as well
as education, social work, nursing the sick, and other forms of
pastoral ministry.
