The following is a tribute from Bishop Noel Treanor, Bishop of Down & Conor to Sr. Maria when he was presenting her with the Benemerenti Medal: ” In saluting you today Sr. Maria, we are honouring the faith that is in you that inspired you to love and serve so well. As we recall and celebrate your work here in the parish of Duneane, the scripture readings resound and call out how you enfleshed the fidelity of God’s love. Today’s Gospel according to Mark reminds us that a person, Jesus Christ, is at the heart of our faith. Rules are important; they hold life and society together, but the Christian view of life goes deeper then rules to the warmer and more complex beat of the heart, to the beat of both the divine and the human heart and their bonded interconnection. In saluting your work and service to this community today, we are saluting Jesus Christ and his goodness which inspired you and which we seek to make present in our own prayer and work.”  (Picture of Bishop Noel Treanor left, Sr. Maria and Fr.
