Prayer of the Day

Feast of St. John Mary Vianney, Priest

August 4th, 2017
John Mary

“Jesus said to them; ‘Prophets are not without honour except in their own country and in their own house.'” (Matthew 13 : 57)

Today is the feast of St. John Vianney, 1786-1859.  In 1817 he was sent to Ars in France.  From 1830 on, the cure averaged twelve to sixteen hours a day in the confessional.  The marvellous gift of the unlearned priest for seeing into the depths of the soul brought the world to Ars.
