Prayer of the Day

May 21st, 2015
""May they all be one. Father may they be one in us, as you are in me and as I am in you, so that the world may believe it was you who sent me."" John 17 : 20

This is part of Christ’s final discourse to his apostles at the last supper:- He is praying for them – that they may be united to him always and to one another. Jesus prays that the love of his Father for him may be shared with the apostles also. God loves each one of us with an unconditional love. Our lives are transformed by this wonderful love of the Creator for his creatures. That prayer for unity sums up Christ’s mission. His mission was to unite the whole world, the whole of Creation into one body – the Body of Christ. Understanding the inter-connectedness of all things in Christ, helps us, followers of Christ, to live a fully Christian life. The early Christians whom Paul speaks of as the Body of Christ always had this sense of union with Christ. It enabled them to face suffering and hardships of every kind for the sake of God’s Kingdom. To-day more than ever, we need to pray for unity in our church – not uniformity. Today we remember Ss. Christopher Magallanes and Companions.   These twenty five priests and laymen were executed in 1927 in Mexico.

Prayer We pray Lord, that your Kingdom may come on earth. May it be for us a Kingdom of justice, peace and love. May all your people be one in you in the unity of the Holy Spirit now and always. Amen
